Chocolate mint

Does anyone know where I can get a chocolate mint plant? I dug one out of someone's yard last fall as they were planning major landscaping changes, but it didn't surive the winter as the dog took to it's tangled vines and pulled it out of the ground. I'm not concerned about the spreading - planting it in an area surrounded by patio.

If the mint got a foothold (or any piece was left in the ground) before being pulled out of the ground there may be hope yet. I have had mint take root from a small piece of stem that fell on the ground when I was cutting back some potted plants. It is probably still a little early in your zone to see any obvious growth yet.
Mint stolons can travel quite a ways before emerging in unexpected areas so beware.

Incidentally, I picked one up from Wally World on Saturday, so you may be able to find it at local nurseries and nursery departments of retail stores.

Also, I've heard stories of mint traveling under driveways and sidewalks, so beware of its uncanny impulse to spread far and wide to take over!
