prostate rosemary

I live in Reno,NV.zone6. I have been trying to grow PROSTRATE rosemary in a 4ft. tall brick planter. Some years it over winters. Usually though, I have to replant some if not all of the plants in the spring. There isn't a cold hardy PROSTRATE rosemary, that I know of. So,I was wondering when I replanted, if I twined a cable soil heater or heat tape around the plants that I could turn on when the temperatures dip below 10 degrees, would that enable me an extra zone of protection? If not, does anyone know if a cold hardy UPRIGHT rosemary(Arp or Madeline Hill, both zn5-6) could be pruned to be more prostate in form?
