Nourishing plants with herbs?

Hi all I am wondering if you can nourish plants with herbs? So for instance you could give some of your plants powdered herb like ginseng or something. In theory at least it could act to nourish and boost the plants that your feeding it to. I don't see any reason why this would not be. Anyone have thoughts on this? Is this a common practice? Thanks.

I make a "tea" from stinging nettle and comfrey leaves and water my veggie garden with that. It really makes a big difference.

When concocting your 'brews', be sure to research any allelopathic interactions between the plants you are watering and the herbs you are using for this purpose. If there are allelopathic properties in your herbs, then you could cause some real problems for the plants you are trying to 'nourish'.
