Question regarding mint varieties

I have mint (not specified any further), Spearmint, and Peppermint planted. It's almost time for the first harvest (I already harvested the "regular mint" once) and I've noticed the trichomes on the stems and leaves of each plant are pretty large. I have a couple different questions about them, however.

1. Will the trichomes still contain the oils after the stems and leaves are dried out? I know the trichomes of "other herbs" still contain oil after drying, but I wasn't sure if mint works the same way, lol.

2. If so, (or even if not, and the trichomes are useless after the stems are dried) is there any way to separate the trichomes from the stems and leaves so that you would end up with a large amount of trichomes, and subsequently a large amount of essential mint oils? I think that would be cool as opposed to having to use alcohol to extract the oils, so I'm just curious.

Anyway, I hope I made sense! Thanks in advance.
