You have spearmint so try it with spearmint and see if you like it. Just have a light hand with the mint in your experiment and adjust from there.

spearmint tastes milder than peppermint, a good strong flavoured peppermint type will taste more like you're used to... i'd recommend Swiss Mint or Blue Balsam mint for strong flavour without the sweetness associated with spearmint~ But i agree with Fatamorgana, if you have spearmint, give it a try~you might just like the flavour, it wont make the tabbouleh taste like chewing gum, just different~:)Best of luck!

Spearmint is the one normally used to make tabouleh and other Middle Eastern dishes.

In Mid-East mint has various uses.
1- used like basils, fresh in salads, garnish, kabobs,.garnish..
2- it is also used to make tea and medicinal purposes.

I have found a Korean mint that I use like basil, fresh on the side of
meat, chichen and fish. No mint sold in US(pepper, spear) can come close, imo.

I have a huge plot of something called "lemon mint" that I got in a small pot 6 years ago and tucked into the yard in a weed field....

Lemon mint could possibly be Lemon Balm. It's a member of the mint family. It definitely tastes lemon-y. There's a Lime Balm, too, which tastes like lime. Neither tastes mint-y.

Monarda citriodora has also been called lemon mint.

This one does smell and taste minty....maybe it was labeled incorrectly?
