I had to go look at last year's albums to find the name, but my suspicions were correct.

Mentha Spicata's common name is Sweet Mint. It's what I have an abundance of, and what most of my teas are flavored with. I now have 6 different types of mints- but Mentha X Villosa isn't one of them (I don't think). I appears to have the common name 'Mojito' mint, and one of it's main characteristics is that it's hairy... and from the photos, it doesn't have the same leaf shape as Sweet Mint. However, I'm finding contradictions where they're saying 'Apple Mint' is also Mentha x Villosa... but that doesn't seem to be correct (I do own Apple Mint) even though they look very similar.

Okay, I correct myself- I guess Apple Mint is just another name for Mentha X Villosa, along with the Mojito Mint. So, since that's the case- I do happen to have a few photos:

My one and only Mentha "spicata" (for comparison purposes) is Kentucky Colonel, which a lot of websites also list as x villosa, so I was ending up comparing mystery mint to mystery mint. Mine definitely has the more rounded leaf. I will now go and search for hairs, and possibly take a field trip to the nursery to inspect some non-hybrid mints. Thanks! Great photos, too.
