anise hyssop dying?

Last fall, I planted a mixed perennial/herb border: mostly bee balms, goldenrod, coneflowers, etc. I planted two types of anise hyssop--agastache foeniculum and a hybrid agastache cultivar called Purple Haze.

This spring the anise hyssop was one of the very first plants out of the ground, growning vigorously from the get go. But just this morning i noticed that the outside leaves on all of the plants from both varieties are beginning to wilt and droop, and the stems look almost dessicated.

No noticable insect activity. The plants are in slightly heavy but basically average soil, in full sun, surrounded by some blackeyed susans, yarrow and goldenrod. Anyone have ideas what could be causing this?

thanks!
