Raised spots on oregano leaves

Hi!

I recently got an oregano plant and I've noticed that most of the older leaves have raised red/orange spots on their underside. I thought they were flat when I first saw them but after taking some close-up macro pics I saw they were actually bumps. You can't scrape them off and they don't go away if you wash the leaves. Here are the pictures I took:

I was wondering if anyone knows what these spots are. Any help will be much appreciated =)

Those are the pustules of Puccinia menthae, a relatively common disease of members of the mint family (Labiatae), to which oregano belongs. This fungal disorder is known as rust.

Thanks for the solving my mystery. That doesn't sound good. I have some mint and thyme on the same balcony. What are the chances that they too are now infected? And is there something I can do other than throwing the whole plant in the bin?
