Has anyone ever heard of the Christmas Basil offerred by T&M Seeds? If anyone has any experience with it, please let me know how it smells and if it has any culinary uses. I'm really into different basils and mints and would love to have a cutting of this also if anyone has any. Thanks in advance, Joel.

Nope. If you try it let us know what you think. From pictures, it appears similar to the asian/thai types.

RE: Christmas Basil??

I recently bought one 4" Christmas Basil. So far, I haven't used it as a culinary herb, but I like the way it looks and smells.

Johnny's Seeds states the following about it:

Beautiful, big, glossy green leaves with dark purple flowers.

(Ocimum basilicum)

This amazing basil not only serves well in the kitchen, but would also make a great garden border or bouquet addition. It has a nice, fruity aroma. Christmas always attracts attention in our trials. Ht. 16-20".

I have mine in the greenhouse right now. I'll check it later to see if it is big enough to get a cutting for you. I'll let you know later today.
