Both should recover with no problem ..... and probably be even fuller than if they hadn't been unexpectedly pinched back by the trimmer. ;-)

Neptune, I agree that your plants are likely to recover but I'd probably take some sharp snips to them so that you can give them sharp, clean cuts rather than the shredding the weed eater typically leaves behind. Your plants will recover a bit faster.

Lemon balm and cockroaches can survive a nuclear holocaust. No worries about the balm.

Speaking from personal experience, clearly mark your plants to prevent zealous significant others from weed-wacking or mowing them into oblivion.

That's good to know about the lemon balm, FataMorgana. ;) Incidentally, some of my (unchopped) lemon balm is turning red. Does anybody have any idea why?

Great point about marking the plants--after this latest fiasco, I vowed to do that from here on out. :)
