What is eating my basil?

Planted yesterday sweet basil, a couple of nice, stocky plants. This noon only stalks are left and a couple of leaves on the ground. Lettuce right next to it and other herbs are not touched. Last year something waited at least until the middle of summer until 2 large basils were eaten one day/night.

Sugest that you do a SEARCH in this forum. I just did it on the words 'eating basil' and got MANY answers. Its easier to read through the posts rather than to post a same question again.
