Hard to believe that this plant hasn't flowered. Flowers are an excellent way to narrow down a plant.

Where do you live (general area/zone)? Obviously if you have had it for years, it is hardy for your zone. If you are in a colder zone, it will shorten the list dramatically.

As you can gather, it isn't something common and easily recognizable so I'm trying to get some other info to help ID it.

I live in Oregon. In the Portland area.

Looks to be in the mint family. Does it have square stems?

Reminds me of a type of monarda, but offhand I'm not aware of any that have a nutty smell.

I too am surprised it hasn't flowered.

What you do have is some Japanese Knotweed behind the moody young man. (Sorry - I was just looking to see if there were more plant pix) Google it for horror stories.

I am no expert, but it looks a bit like some type of Monarda. Mine did not bloom until the 3rd year after planting, so yours may bloom soon.

Usually, Monarda leaves are described as having a citrus-y smell, but we all smell things a bit differently, so that may not be definitive...
