I assume that you will be keeping your plants in containers. Be sure that the potting medium is one that drains very well, because although these plants have a high water requirement, your potting mix can't be mucky or muddy. They prefer full sun, if at all possible.

Lemon verbena is native to very warm climates, so you don't need to worry about protecting it...just keep it very well watered. You'll need to bring it inside in the fall.

Please can someone tell me where I can find lemon verbena? I live in S. California and I am crazy about this herb, but unfortunately I cannot find it anywhere. Please help!!

Poulettes, I've been seeing it recently in the stores in the small 4" size. I think I saw it at OSH and maybe Lowes. The smaller independents around me carry it also. Good luck, I am sure you can find it!

Not so uncommon in NJ at good nurseries. I love this herb too. And have had it overwinter in a warm site outdoors in zone 7. Strange to hear that it's difficult to find in Ca. were it should be growing like a weed!
