I hope the pictures work.

I know nothing about herb. This shows up a month ago in the backyard of my new house. It smells like herb, about 1- 1.5 ft tall. Thank you.

The picture did not work.
You don't need photo bucket here anymore. You can upload from your pictures file from your computer.
just under "Post a Follow -Up" where it says:
Image file to upload (optional).......Browse
click on Brows, go to your computer (pictures ?), find it , open it.

You can do this before writing you message or after you are done with it but before you click "Preview Message"

Or you can just copy and paste the html code from Photobucket. Here is one of your pictures. Looks like Oregano to me.

Well, it's certainly ONE of the origanums. There are at least fifty species, subspecies, and hybrids and many are kind of hard to tell apart at this stage by just looking at a picture . To be more specific, you'll have to wait at least until it grows out a bit more, and maybe even until it starts to bloom and has developed it's full fragrance and taste..

However, if you're already familiar with the different varieties, you can get a pretty good idea now which one it is by picking off some leaves and crushing them. Hopefully, you have one of the nice culinary varieties.
