Rosemary showing signs of stress

Hello,

I was given a beautiful rosemary plant a few months ago, lush, vibrant, full. I thought it was doing fine for the first while, but recently it has been dropping some needles, becoming thinner. Most needles that fall turn a bit brown first.

It doesn't look like a disease; the thinning is spread evenly rather than concentrated in a particular area. It was in direct sun until I started noticing this, and moved it to a slightly less sunny spot. The weather has been quite hot, but I thought Rosemary was supposed to do fine in heat. Any suggestions about watering? I have been watering it about 3 times a week, due to the heat. I put a little 10-10-10 fertilizer on the top of the soil about a month ago. I don't know how to fertilize romemary appropriately.

I want to save this beautiful plant! Any help/ advice would be greatly appreciated!
