Stem Rot in Dill Plant

Today after a strong rain and wind storm I found one of my mature (3+ foot tall) dill plants (already starting to flower) blown over and the stem was broken open about 6 inches above the soil line just above the first 'stem node'. The inside of the stem was brown and rotted up about 10 inches toward the top of the plant. I pulled the plant and the root was fine as well as the stem area below that node. I had several other plants that were blown over at the soil line but don't seem to have any stem issues.

My plants are all in well-drained raised beds and I have grown dill for a number of years without ever having a problem like this.

I have not been able to find an internet reference to this specific type of problem with dill plants.

Any information or insight would be appreciated.
