The second one looks like all the flowers have opened, while the first photo shows only buds. I suspect they are the same, but one is more mature than the other. If they are both grown near each other, you could have another type other than Greek in the second photo. Mine here looks like your first photo, and is Greek, grown from my seeds.

Yeah, but their smell and flavor differ greatly, and both are grown from seeds that I purchased from two different vendors.
Further, their leaves are not exactly alike, so I suspect they are not the same.

I think the first one is greek oregano, but what is the second one? is it a subspecies of greek oregano? Hoping someone could ID it for me.

I recently found out that "Greek" oregano could be a number of species. If you google-image it, you'll see a whole variety of varieties/sub-species. One that is generally known as the Greek variety in Aus has hairy, dark green leaves and a much spicier taste than the "sweet" varieties.

I was thinking that the second one looked like Origanum Majorana, too -- a.k.a. marjoram.
