It is yummy. I grow a "golden purslane" variety in the garden that is larger and more succulent (and tasty, IMHO).

I was unable to see many details in the plant in question. I tried zooming in on the plant but still no dice. Could you take a closer picture?

The one that's definitely purslane bloomed this morning... tiny yellow blossoms. It's really pretty big and tons more is coming in. There are places that I wasn't sure what it was and let it grow. It's getting bigger daily and looks like that's what it's gonna turn out to be definitely. I'll be trying to give it away should that be the case. I hate to throw it away and there is just soooo much of it.

Ok, back to the topic... We've just moved here recently and I don't have my camera unpacked yet so am using cell for pics. (I know I should be doing boxes instead of playing outside. lol) I tried a close up and sharpening it a little (cause it was a bit blurry) so hopefully you can see it better.

Another question too please. There is a courtyard type area that is nothing but dirt. Where I've made flower beds and out in the vege area is where all this purslane is coming up. Can it take light foot traffic if I put some in the open areas? I need some green and don't really want to plant grass there. It's too small to have to mow I think.

Sorry. I can't see enough detail to say one way or another.

Purslane is rather tender so I don't think it will take foot traffic overly well, but heck, you can always try it. I would probably try other plants that are "steppables" in that location. Some herbs even fit that bill.

Hi purslane lovers!

Could you share some recipes? I had some purslane from the yard, then bought golden purslane, and another kind. They all tasted the same-and kind of latexy to me.

How have you prepared it? I'm a hard core greens person - but having a tough time getting into this....

I munch it straight from the garden. I find the older leaves, especially after it has started to flower, to not be as tasty - pretty much the same as many other greens that are eaten.

I munch it straight from the garden too. It's gone into stir fried dishes mostly so far. I made a chicken salad with sweet pickle relish, apples, purslane and celery with a bit of spicy mustard that turned out just wonderful. Some sprigs on the side to dress it up. Maybe try a Google search for some recipes.
