Thai Basil Leaves

I have about 3 Thai basil plants that I've had for several months now, and it seems like the leaves aren't getting bigger at all. I've been pruning them (one of the plants I've been pruning aggressively) but to no avail. I heard leaves should get around or even over 2", but mine seem to top out at 1" max. Any advice on getting big lush leaves?

How are they planted? Potted, outside, spacing, sun, etc...

Also, there are so many varieties of basils anymore, it is possible you have a different strain that does have smaller leaves.

They're outside in full sun in a pot. They're placed about 10-12" apart. With pruning they're gotten pretty bushy, but the leaves are all consistently under 1". All 3 plants are from widely different places/parts of the US. I believe one is a Siam queen from Home Depot, while the other is from Hirts garden and the other is from a friend who shipped it to me from his garden in Washington.
