Marketing Herbs

I have two acres to grow on so plenty of room to grow herbs for sale aside from personal use.

Do any of know if there's, (generally speaking), a market for fresh herbs.

P.S. I would've asked in the "Market Gardening" forum but there's not much participation there.

To determine whether or not there is a market for fresh herbs in your community, you'll need to do a market study of restaurants, grocery stores, farmers' markets, and the like.

If you have a good restaurant business, 2 acres might about keep them supplied.

Are you prepared to become USDA NOA certified?

You might check with your county agricultural extension service and state dept of agriculture. In NH they are running clinics for small farmers (part-time). Both might have free advice and free help for you.

Forgive me for the typo: NOP (National Organic Programs) certification may be required for you to sell your herbs in some venues. Certainly restaurants would want you to be a certified grower, and many fresh market stands require it.
