Ltcollins posted on another thread:

"NOTE: In addition, keep dill and fennel plants apart from one another. Dill and fennel will cross pollinate. According to the Encyclopedia of Herbs and Their Uses by Deni Bown, page 386, she states the following:

. . .when some herbs, including Marjorams and Lavenders, are grown near each other, the chances of hybridization are high. Closely related genera may also interbreed if they are grown together and flower at the same time; dill and fennel are known to cross, resulting in plants that are indeterminate in flavor."

I can see where dill and fennel could cross but not Marjoram's and Lavenders. If they could cross Oregano's would also cross with Lavenders. Has anyone had any experience with Marjoram's and Oregano's crossing with Lavender or is this one of those things that one person heard this then wrote it in a book which then gets passed around until it is accepted without any thought?
