I have a patch of Lavender outside of my garden shed. I love that, even when not in bloom, it smells so nice. I can't remember the variety I planted, but I posted a pic below this reply (sorry if it's big)

The bees also like it when it is in bloom.

I planted two on each side of the shed, and I hoped they would fill in - man did they; now I have to prune when back!

here is my two dwarf lavender in a pot. I believe it's a dwarf mumstead, but I lost the label. The foliage is extremely aromatic. More so than any other lavenders I've seen.

I like the larger leafed ones such as Grosso and Provance sp?. To me they have a pine after taste which I like. Which is really good because the regular ones like Munstad seldom live more than two years.

I prefer the English types. They have a wonderful fragrance and are hardy for my conditions. Perhaps it is my conditions or the plants themselves, but I've had two "munstads" that are 5+ and 10+ years old. Or perhaps they like the neglect I heap upon them since they are a plant that thrives on neglect. ;)

I love Hidcote's fragrance the best. To me, it is true, clean lavender!

My favorite is Hicote, too :)

It has beautiful purple flowers, a wonderful fragrance, doesn't mind being watered too much (with the roses) and survives my zone 4 winters!
