Honestly, I can't see herbs doing well in that kind of environment very long, probably way too humid and they would rot, plus most of them are such rampant growers that they'd outgrow all but a very large fishtank pretty quickly. Like anything, I'm sure it could be done, but not necessarily very practical.

Personally, I'd just grow them in regular pots or containers of some type, or perhaps even a self-watering container with appropriate potting medium, under a growlight or in a very sunny window. Herbs are easy indoors.

Have to agree most culinary herbs would resent terrarium conditions. Now some medicinal herbs, that's another story.

It's like those umpteen-herbs-in-a-bowl gift ideas - OK in the short-term, but useless in the long term. Forget it.

I get it loud and clear! LOL! You all saved me a lot of time, $$ (to buy the terranium), AND frustration! Our mediterranean climate will grow most herbs easily outside, so, my newest herbs will grow in a pot under the drip system in the vineyard.

If you're growing tarragon from seed you don't have the really good kind :) the best one is french tarragon and it is propagated via cuttings, and has about a 2 year life-span. It produces infertile seed.

I was first introduced to tarragon with the seed variety, and its nice, but now that I've found the other variety, there is a world of difference!
