drying herbs

I like to dry herbs from my garden, and hang them in cool (as possible) place out of the sun till dried. The problem is the rubberbands. It seems like they are disintegrating, and therefore breaking in a short time, before my herbs are dried. What is with rubberbands? I don't recall ever having this problem in the past!

I think that it's like everything else these days, Cheap Materials and Construction and all for a higher price. I've gotten to the point that I repair everything I can as opposed to buying new, which of course is what they want you to do. In times past products were built so much better. Just my opinion of course...

Maybe you could switch to using plain string or kitchen twine..not as easy to use I guess but it wouldn't break so quickly! I agree with Gregg that things seem to be made so much worse than before...nothing lasts like it used to.
