Horsemint a perennial or annual?

Hey everyone,

So I am new to gardening and I am trying to figure thing out one at a time (there are MANY things to figure out by the way, yeesh!). But I am trying to find out if horsemint is an annual or a perennial. I have found articles stating both. I will be planting them where they will receive full sun all day.

Please help!!

I believe horsemint is another name for wild mint (mentha longifolia) therefore, like nearly all mint varieties, it's a hardy perennial.

Ok I thought horsemint went under the bee balm family and I wasn't sure if it was an annual or what. Thanks for clearing it up for me!

Monarda citriodora/Horsemint is considered an annual.

Ah, that's the rub of common names. Can be confusing as to which you mean. For the OP, do you know the latin name of your plants?

I should have checked which country you were in. It appears here in the UK we call horsemint wildmint while in the US it seems to be jaynine's answer.
