Nutmeg Thyme

StarLizard

Greetings all,

Hubby and I found, at one of our local nurseries, a beautiful nutmeg thyme plant. I had never heard of it before, and the nice lady who owns the place told me she had never used it and I promised to visit again with some recipes, after trying it for myself.

The nutmeg thyme has a decidedly 'nutmeggy' smell and taste, and I didn't waste time trying it in my favorite squash and pumpkin recipes, thinking it would be a great pairing. I found out I was right, as it really enhances my carrot-pumpkin muffins and butternut squash-pear soup (I will be happy to post recipes for these if anyone is interested!).

I will keep on experimenting, but was wondering if any of you have ever grown / used nutmeg thyme, and if anyone has good recipes to share, as I would be very interested in trying them. Google isn't very forthcoming with any information (none at all, actually) on this thyme hybrid.

Thanks for your thoughts and input!
