wild chive? Edible?

I have grown chives from the packaged seeds I sowed, and I have used them for cooking. A few times, I was out of them, so I used the volunteer plant that flowers and tastes the same as those I planted. My stomach felt funny and had to go to the bathroom after eating the food made from the "chive" of the volunteer plant those two times.

Is it a wild chive? Edible? Each little stalk is very close to one another and makes the plants looking like ONE big mounding plant, whereas the chives I planted are more loosely compacted. Perhaps mine are growing in partial sun, whereas the volunteer in full sun. Are they the same? Or the volunteer is a wild variety of chive? And it works differently for human consumption??? Thanks
