Lavender cuttings

I followed a lot of the good recommendations here and created three pots with lavender cuttings in sand and perlite mix. However, most suggest covering the pots with something clear to hold the moisture.

But I am in Houston and atmospheric humidity is around 80% with 90+ degrees in the afternoons. I am afraid I will cook or steam the cuttings if I cover them.

So should I cover them or leave them open? Yes, I know it is wrong time of the year but I am trying to rescue a couple of plants that the humidity and wet soil almost killed off. So it was an emergency measure.
