Fusarium wilt

I recently lost my basil to this and decided to get myself a set of new seeds to plant up for the spring. I'm just wondering if there's anything I can do to minimise the risk of the new plants getting it as well. I don't know how the original plant got it

I can only suggest it could have been your soil. Check with your local extension agent if no one can help you here.
