My thyme plant that I brought insdie are dying. Can someone tell me why. Thank you.

Most successful house plant species are from habitats where they have evolved to deal with low light levels, such as tropical forests. Thyme is not such a plant. Indoors it needs a lot of light, a little water and very little heat. In your zone I think it is probably hardy enough to leave outside in the winter as long as it is planted in the ground. |

| It is hardy here planted in the ground. I haven't successfully over wintered thyme indoors. Outdoors it survives every winter. FataMorgana |

| I do have some outside in ground and they are all doing well but I wanted to try growing thyme inside. My DIL has a cafe and uses them regularily and I thought I could help out so she would not have to buy them. Rosemary is doing very well inside. |

| You're not likely to get much production out of the indoors thyme. Without additional lighting it'll be enough of a challenge to keep it alive. If you want cold season production you would need a coldframe, tunnel or greenhouse. Alternatively you could dry some thyme when you have alot growing outdoors. Good luck with the rosemary. |
