I'd like your input on angelica. How big does it get? How much shade does it like? How much does it spread? Finally, do you use it...I've read mixed reviews, but I'd like to try it, depending on what you all have to say :)

RE: Angelica?

It is basically a cooler climat herb that like lots of water. Grows best by the streams. I would think that it does not need lots of sun.
Check the link below.
It has lots of valuable information.

Here is a link that might be useful: all about angelica

RE: Angelica?

A beautiful herb. Cyrus is correct, it does love sun and water. Since angelica is a biennial, there is no real "spread" to speak of. The plant does get very sizable in its second year when it is ready to bloom. The actual height varies - the happier it is, the larger it can get. But don't worry, it doesn't stay that big. It dies after blooming.

This is one of the plants I go out of my way to plant each year. I love the way it looks. I've never used it herb-wise - I don't have the heart to chop on it. It's too pretty. Anyways, there are recipes on-line for candied angelica and more.
