Have you ever grown a marshmallow plant?

It is supposed to me a good medicinal plant. I'd love to know how to grow one.

I've never grew anything easier. Sowed some seeds and viola! It is a large perennial, easily 4-5' tall with a 2-3' spread when mature and established. Clear pink hollyhock like blooms. Velvety leaves. Some self-sowing. Survives zone 5 with no winter kill. No fertilizer or special soil and almost no watering in my zone. I water only when we have extended periods of excessive heat and dryness - maybe once or twice a summer. In your zone, you will probably need to water it. Full sun. Keep your mother plant and harvest the self-sown younglings.

Sounds great! Now I just have to find one or some seeds.

Try Horizon Herbs or Richters. Both very good herb places. I believe Richters has seeds for the medicinal cultivar I grow, "Erfurter."

Randomly came across this - what is a marshmallow plant? Anything to do with making marshmallows or just a name?

Thanks!

As a marshmallow salesperson you could do some research into the origin of the sweets you are trying to flog. Advertising is not allowed on this site.

I've had marshmallow in my herb garden for years - super easy to grow.
