Help with thyme between pavers

Posted by robinava 6B (My Page) on Thu, Nov 19, 09 at 21:30
I am installing 42 feet of pavers for a front pathway. I would like to plant thyme between these pavers. Suggestions and experience would be most appreciated as to the pros and cons of each. Here are a few under consideration.
Pink Chintz
White Moss
Elfin
Purple Carpet Lemon

Robinava- it sounds like a great idea. My mom is planning to do something similar with her side path around the house. I don't have any info to offer, but I'm curious to see what recommendations you get from the more experienced people on this forum. All the garden forums have been slower lately, but I'm sure you'll get some good responses very soon. Good luck with your pathway :)

I have one advice, make sure beforehands that the ground underneath is well drained. Thymes do not like wet feet.

I second that. They like to be dry, plenty of sun, too.

All of the pavers are going to be going down hill so I think that the drainage should be ok. Plan to use a combination of soils so that I can have good drainage. Question, my pavers are 13/4 inches thick. Will that give me enough soil for the thyme to grow or will I have to dig down further?
