garden sage...not looking attractive...

My sage seems large and healthy, but it isn't a nice uniform clump.....I want the herb garden to be attractive.

Would cutting all the sage down to within 1' of the ground help it look more like a uniform rounded clump next year?

thx!

Sage isn't a plant that ever looks like some topiary creation. And I like it's somewhat sprawling, easy shape. But to inspire a more bushy and full plant, be sure to regularly pinch the terminal leaf pair. That will make the next two leaf pairs to grow. But be sure to let it bloom first - that is very attractive in the herb garden!

Thanks fata! Yes I do love it....but those blooms are nice and tasty too! I like to take a just starting bud and use for seasoning.....but I do let plenty bloom too!

Trying to start another from seed....just for decor....
