Rosemary died - can I wash the dry leaves for use?

I overwintered a rosemary indoors last year & was so pleased. I tried it again this year & it has died (or so it appears). The leaves are brittle dry. I would be interested in stripping the leaves from the stems to use in cooking but I'm thinking they are covered w/ dust/etc and it doesn't sound yummy to save them w/o first rinsing.

Do you think I'd have any luck rinsing the stripped leaves in a colandar, laying them out to dry and then storing them in container for culinary use?

Thank you.
