What to do with ugly flowers

Posted by ConnieMay 6a(CAN) (My Page) on

The flowers on my Heuchera Stormy Seas were pretty ugly, looked weedy and were blocking the view of the plants behind them. So I cut them all (3 plants worth) as close to the base as possible and put them in a vase - where I think that they surprisingly look good.

They would probably dry nicely too.

I agree, many look nice in a vase. I have some on my coffee table right now. DH pulled them off with the lawn mower.

They do look pretty in a vase. I tend to cut most of mine off for that since I really prefer this as a foliage plant rather than for it's blooms. Very nice Connie May.

They do look good in the vase. I leave mine on so I can get babies. They self seed in the garden if you let them dry in the garden. I grow them for the foliage but leave a couple of stems for the seedlings.

Good save. That's like eating your cake and having it too!
