Help me save this hibiscus (total rookie)

Hi everyone,

I had a look through some of the hibiscus posts and found lots of information, but I thought I'd post some pictures to see if I could get some specific advice.

We just moved into a new place with a very unloved garden. In there is a really large but scraggly hibiscus. As someone who knows *nothing* about gardening, I need some help with it.

Its about 2m tall, but seems a bit sad. It had a few flowers, but nothing impressive. The leaves all seem quite damaged- either with holes or light spots.

It obviously needs some TLC and, I assume, some heavy pruning, but not sure where to start. Any advice would be wonderful!!! In particular, where do I prune back to?

    skm79,
Those plants are in dire need of a hair cut. As I have never dealt with a plant that large and wild, I will point you to a great article to get you started. The link is below. A word of advice is that this may take stages. I prune portions of my plants, and wait for new growth, then prune another area.

    Hope this helps,
    Ed
