| I live in the Inland Empire of SoCal at 2,000 feet and the last 10 days has been very cold overnight,around 28degrees. The hibiscus in the yard have taken a beating, looking dead, leaves curled, turning brown, etc. Do I cut back now (this weekend we are 80 degrees each day!) or wait until we have no chance of weather below 32 again in late Feb? Thank you! |

| From everything I see and hear says you wait and see. Watch for new growth come spring before pruning as one you might stimulate new grow or prune too much. |

| Yes, you should wait. If you cut them now and have a hard freeze, it will die back from the point where it's cut back. Leaving it will keep that from happening, since it's already frozen back. And Wally's right, you don't want to encourage new growth when it's warm because you could still get a freeze. |
