Hibiscus

I have an Apricot Brandy Hibiscus which I brought into the house in September. It bloomed beautifully for a while and then started to drop all leaves. I had read that this is normal and to expect growth in February or March. My question is: How do I know if the plant is dead or still dormant? There is no sign of leaves or green at all.

RE: Hibiscus

Scratch a branch or two on the upper third of the plant. If there is green just under the bark its alive and ok. If not go further down the plant until you scratch (with thumbnail) some green. You may have some tip die back but unless over watered for too long it should be alive. Low light of winter will often see many leaves drop in many northern U.S. situations.

Good Luck and Happy Growing David
