Stopped flowering and lost alot of leaves

I have a yellow flowering hibiscus. Recently it has stopped flowering and has lost a significant amount of leaves, but has some new growth where the leaves were lost. It sits in a very large pot in front of a window that faces south, with stones at the bottom for drainage and organic soil. I have fed this tree miracle grow and it seemed to do very well with this. What am I doing wrong or is this a seasonal, cyclic type of behavior? Thanks for any and all of your help.

How long since the last repot or potting-up? It probably needs repotting (not just potting-up).

The "stones at the bottom" don't help with drainage - they only reduce the amount of soil available for root colonization.

What kind of, or what is in your 'organic' soil?

What are the %s of NPK in your fertilizer?

When you water, are you thoroughly flushing the soil, or watering in small sips (so you don't 'over-water')?
