ROS next to evergreen???

I have a fledgeling ROS rooted from a cutting and it has now made it through it's first winter.

I'm thinking about planting an evergreen shrub next to it for the purpose of creating some privacy. The root placement of these two plants would be about three feet apart. It could be more.

Would the acidic requirements of the evergreen cause a problem for my ROS? If so, would doing something like placing a root barrier between the two make any difference?

Any suggestions for providing the proper soil requirements for these two plants or, is this combination just a bad idea?
