fire ants and ladybugs

I have an appointment with an exterminator to check our house for termites and also to finally (I hope) do away with an old fire ant colony under my son's window that has 'died' several times under the best treatments I knew how to do myself. In a separate bed, at the other end of the house, I have hibiscus, a rose and geraniums. I washed off a few aphids this morning and was contemplating buying some ladybugs. I saw ants up on the hibiscus bush today, and am assuming that fire ants are the same as others regarding aphids. Will the ants or the poisoning do more to damage the ladybugs? I'm sure we are going to ask the guy to kill all the ants he finds, which will bring the poison to this bed. Will the ants kill the ladybugs? They take a while to die out when poisoned, and I could wait for the ladybugs if necessary.
