Starting Hibiscus from Cuttings

Can anyone tell me exactly how to start a hardy hibiscus from cuttings that a friend gave me? Thanks!

    I have been starting tropical hibiscus by putting cuttings in dirt and some root hormone - then keeping the soil very damp, but not soggy. should work the same for hardy hibiscus.
