Planting bulbs over a hibsicus

churrl

I've got an established perennial hibiscus (I'm pretty sure it's a hibiscus moscheutos, but I'm not sure exactly what kind) in a great spot in my front yard all by itself. It's huge and the entire plant resembles a bush when it's at its full height.

I'd like to plant some spring flowering bulbs over top of it, if possible. Is this possible to do? If so, how far down should I put the bulbs? And I'm assuming I would plant them in October.

Thanks for any suggestions!

Cheryl

depends on the bulbs as some require at least a 6inch depth and others less..if it were me i wouldnt plant any bulbs that deep as too much disturbance to roots of your hibiscus could cause a problem. You need to ask yourself if its really worth it.
