Good Hibiscus vs Bad Hibiscus

Posted by splais (My Page) on

I have several Hibiscus in the yard. there is one I can't seem to find where I got it. It is a beautiful plant that grows vertically without spreading out into an ugly bush like most I have, even when you trim it. It always grows vertically and has really nice red flowers. Can anyone tell me what variety it is. Hope the link works:

Here is a link that might be useful: What Hibiscus variety?

Could that be a rose-of sharon maybe?

The leaves look the wrong shape to be Rose of Sharon.

That's a Hibiscus rosa-sinensis, either 'President' or another cultivar, can't remember the name right now.
you're right - it is a good looking plant.

It is Hibiscus rosa-sinensis. Either 'The President' or 'Brilliant'. If it has a dark eye, then it's 'The President'. They are great reliable plants, aren't they?
Also, all hibiscus (actually all Malvas, which are what Hibiscus are) have five petals.
