Need help repotting my hibiscus

Hey all -

It's pretty clear to me that my hibiscus needs to be repotted (the roots are coming out of the bottom and I can see threads in the top of the soil too). It's in a terra cotta pot now. And I'm fine to go buy a bigger one. But how do I get it out of its current home? I'm thinking the only way is to break the current pot. I could try and dig around the edges, but I fear a lot of root damage. Any thoughts?

Don't worry about root damamge. You'll only be damaging the smaller roots, which you'll want to "rough up" when you repot it anyway.
When you're choosing the new pot, don't get one a lot bigger; only go up a few inches larger. If you go up too large, the soil around the plant (where the roots can't reach yet), will stay wet and could result in root rot.
    Good luck!
