Droopy Hardy

I purchased a Plum Crazy last summer and got great blooms on a nice-sized shrub. It's in a whiskey barrel. I cut it down to about 6" after it was done and moved the barrel into the garage. It's been back out in the sun for a few weeks now, and the new growth is a couple of feet tall and looks really good. Until last night! I got home from work and noticed both big stalks laying on the sides. I've been watering regularly, but I went ahead and gave it another good soaking and put a couple of stakes in the barrel for the stalks to lean on.

What might have caused this? Have I hurt it? It looked a little better this morning but the leaves were still a bit lackluster.

First thing that comes to mind, since you said it did perk up after watering, is that it's root bound.
Second thing, well, I don't know. Maybe someone else will have an idea....
