Send me your snail mail address. I found some seed from last year when I was cleaning the garage. I won't be planting them as I still have 8 seedlings that I overwintered that need to be planted. I don't know if they came from my red or pink hibiscus, or if they come "true" from parent plants, but I'd be happy to send you some seeds. My pink plant is large, it gets about 6 feet tall and about that wide. The red plant is much shorter, only getting about 4 feet tall, even though they are planted only about 5 feet apart. But the blooms on each are huge and lovely.

Twelve foot high hibiscus?! Maybe a rose of sharon, but not a "dinner plate" plate type.Five feet most likely.

You may be thinking of a perennial Hibiscus--there is one up the road from me that has 6-8" red blooms on reddish stems. Comes back from the roots each year, starts blooming in July I think and continues for a while. Very nice.
