Hibiscus leaves changed shape

My friends hibiscus leaves have changed from the normal shape to a three pronged leaf, almost looks like a maple leaf! It is not grafted, these are the new leaves since she brought it in for the winter. Why would this happen and is there something she should do? Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Icedragonlady,
This is normal. Many of mine changed during the winter months indoors. Likely they will shed as you bring them out. Remind your friend that they should slowly expose the plant to direct sunlight until they acclimate.
