hibiscus not blooming

I live in dfw and my tropical hibiscus did great last spring and summer but they are in the ground so they stayed outside during the winter. I didn't trim them back. Now all I have are brown stems with no bulbs or blooms. How can I get them to bloom?

RE: hibiscus not blooming

Not likely to be alive as they do not like any freeze. Even down here on the coast we lose many each winter. Scrape the stem near the ground for some green, if none you probably have a dead hibisus and will have to buy another.
